Periodicals (Journals, Magazines, Newspapers)

The image is and article from The Silent Worker entitled "The International Deaf Artists Club".  American Annals of the Deaf (AAD) is available online from 1847 to 1893. We also have the whole set from 1847-1959 in the Deaf Studies, Culture & History  Archive Collection at RIT Archives, at the library. The volumes from 1960- are available in the Bound Collections and Current Magazine Shelves. AAD is also available via our databases from 1996 - present. Volta Review is another resource.

Another periodical is The Silent Worker and available online from 1888 to 1929. A popular magazine was the Deaf American and we have issues you can check out. The periodical Deaf History Journal (from Great Britain) has short profiles of deaf people. Deaf History International has a newsletter and occasionally feature deaf people. Deaf Life magazine writes articles about deaf figures. WFD (World Federation of the Deaf) News also has profiles of deaf people.

The Gallaudet University Index to Deaf Periodicals database has citations to articles. You will have to use the Journal Finder to locate the title which may be in print, MF, and/or online formats.You can do a keyword search, browse by periodical, subject, dates, and more.
