Thesis/Dissertation Binding

Binding your thesis or dissertation is OPTIONAL.  RIT Libraries provides this service if your department requires a bound copy for their records or if you would like copies for personal use.

For spiral comb binding, please contact the HUB or another office printing service.

The bindery service provided by the RIT Libraries will bind your submitted work with a hard cover.  Theses are bound with black covers; dissertations are bound with grey-blue covers; both will have text in gold type.  For hardcover binding, please follow these instructions:

  1. Print all copies desired for binding
    1. Use a printing service or a personal printer
    2. If you have supplemental material on a CD-ROM, DVD, etc., burn copies for each print bound thesis being requested.  Make sure each CD-ROM is labeled with your name, your thesis title, and the year.
  2. Order and pay for your bound copies using this online order form.  You will receive an email confirmation and the Thesis Binding staff will be notified of your order
    1. Please consult this chart for details on the costs of bound copies
    2. Departments paying for their copy of your bound thesis must submit a separate order form with your name and their payment information
  3. Request an appointment to drop off your printed copies at the Thesis Binding Office
    1. All copies MUST be printed and paid for PRIOR to your appointment
    2. All pages must be in order and prepared for binding (including any folded pages needed for MArch or MFA theses).  Neither the Thesis Binding staff nor the bindery will put your pages in order for you.  Unprepared theses will NOT be accepted
