What is LinkedIn Learning?

LinkedIn Learning is a database for the RIT community that offers tutorials on a wide variety of topics, including how to create an X (Twitter) account. Many of the tutorials are captioned. You can access this resource 24/7 from anywhere in the world. After you log in with your username and password, do a search for X (Twitter). Log in or create an  X (Twitter) account. Customize your X (Twitter) profile. Check out this X (Twitter) guide for more information, research, and how to do more with X (Twitter) in Education.

Search X (Twitter)

Anyone, with or without an X (Twitter) account, can use X (Twitter) Search or Advanced X (Twitter)Search -X (Twitter) Search is a powerful tool! (Note: the X (Twitter) search interface is very different on a mobile device and Advanced X (Twitter Search) is not available on mobile.) Try X's (Twitter's) advanced search to limit by language, people, and places to follow an account. Now can search as far back as 2006 to the present.

X (Twitter) lists
Lists are a useful way of finding others with similar interests. This example is a list of history researchers - see if you can find lists relevant to your field.

X (Twitter) Activity Dashboard
To access your Tweet activity:
On desktop, visit analytics.twitter.com and click on Tweets.
On mobile, tap one of your Tweets to get to the Tweet detail, then tap View Tweet activity. Make sure you have installed the latest version of Twitter for iPhone or Twitter for Android.

Twitter Terminology

    • Retweet (RT)
      • Retweeting is a way to share another users’ message (tweet) by replicating their tweet to your followers and on your timeline.
    • Hashtag (#)
      • The # followed by words is used to mark keywords in a tweet
    • Favorite
      • The favourite is used to mark a tweet that you might want to look at again later, or show your approval of.
    • @ Replies and Mentions           
      • The @ symbol followed by a username is a way to reply to users. It also creates a link to that user’s profile. They are notified when you use the @ and their username.
