Library Databases & GenAI Overview

Very few library vendors who lease databases to academic institutions have developed GenAI add-ons. The few who have then sometimes offer the add-on for free and others charge an annual fee. So far the RIT Libraries is not paying for any GenAI add-ons. Below are the databases we chosen to turn on the GenAI add-on after we vetted out how it works and when results they offer.

Library Databases with Variations of Generative Artificial Intelligence

JSTOR
Once in JSTOR create or log into an existing individual account to access the new interactive tools. These tools are turn on by default once in your individual account. Toggle them off if you want to use your individual account with the traditional search and article display.

About JSTOR’s AI Research Tool
Info from JSTOR on their AI research tools which include a generative text tool at the item level and an experimental search tool using semantic search for better results.

ProQuest Central
ProQuest Central is the largest single periodical resource available, bringing together complete databases across all major subject areas, including Business, Health and Medical, Language and Literature, Social Sciences, Education, Science and Technology, as well as core titles in the Performing and Visual Arts, History, Religion, Philosophy, and includes thousands of full-text newspapers from around the world.
