Below, you will find instructions for locating eBooks and articles in Spanish using RIT's Summon search tool.
When searching in the library's catalog, you'll need to follow a few steps in order to get to the "Advanced Search" option which will allow you to use limiters to narrow your results to: ONLY books, available online (in other words, eBooks), and in Spanish.
Here are the steps:
1. When you open the library's homepage and see Summon, click on the "Catalog" tab. Here you will only be searching within the library's actual catalog, i.e., things we own that you have access to.
*YOU WILL NEED TO PUT IN ANY "DUMMY" WORD FROM HERE AND HIT ENTER (OR CLICK SEARCH) TO BE OFFERED THE OPTION FOR "ADVANCED SEARCH" ON THE NEXT SCREEN.
2. After searching for your dummy word, a results list will pop up that NOW offers the option of "Advanced Search." Click on this icon. (Just ignore the results list.)
3. Advanced search reveals many limiter options--seen below. You will need to choose these 3:
Location: Online
Material Type: Books
Language: Spanish
Then you will scroll back up and put in your actual search terms and click "submit."
Use the Summon tab for finding articles in Spanish. Remember, Summon allows you to search everywhere that RIT has access to: books, eBooks, open source resources, databases, newspapers, films, etc. Again, you will use your limiters also called Filters. You can choose as few or as many as are relevant to your search. Also note, that for many filters, the number of results within that particular filter category are shown in parentheses.
The Filters in Summon are listed on the left of your screen,
and include many categories, such as:
