Citation Managers

Choose a citation management program early on in your research process.

The library provides access to EndNote, and many graduate students have successfully used EndNote for their work.  Zotero and Mendeley are other recommended systems that many graduate students have found useful.

Dissertation and Thesis Calculator

Graduate students often need help knowing what all the steps are in the thesis or dissertation process and need help keeping on track to complete their work by a deadline. The Dissertation and Thesis Calculator can help with project management and time management.

Google Scholar Button

Do you use Google Scholar?  Get the benefits of Google Scholar from a convenient button in your browser.

Use the Google Scholar Button to:

  • Find full text on the web or in your university library.  Select the title of the paper on the page you're reading, and click on the Scholar button to find it
  • Transfer your query from web search to Scholar.  Press the Scholar button to see the top three results; click "full screen" in the lower left of the pop-up to see them all
  • Format references in widely used citation styles.  Press the quote button in the pop-up to see a formatted reference and copy it into the paper you're writing

Unpaywall

Use Unpaywall to access millions of open access scholarly articles from within your browser.

Look for the green Unpaywall icon while you're viewing an unsubscribed article and click it to find a free, open access version of that article.

RIT contributes to Unpaywall by allowing harvesting of open access records from our Scholar Works institutional repository.

EndNote Click

EndNote Click (formerly Kopernio) is a utility that allows you to instantly access subscribed articles from the RIT Libraries' databases while you are searching sources like PubMed, Google Scholar, and Web of Science.  EndNote Click also allows you to store PDFs in a personal locker for your future research.

EndNote Click requires a free registration to use; it does not integrate with your existing RIT username and password. If you use EndNote Online, you can use the same account to access EndNote Click.

Benefits of using EndNote Click:

  • Store up to 100MB of PDF documents in your personal locker
  • Integrate with popular search tools such as Google Scholar, Web of Science, and PubMed - automatically find the best legal versions of articles found in your search results
  • Integrate with citation managers such as EndNote, Zotero, and Mendeley - save the citations for the articles in your locker to your account in your preferred citation manager

Upgrade to Premium

Because the RIT Libraries subscribe to the Web of Science, members of the RIT community that install EndNote Click via the link below and register with an RIT email address will be upgraded to EndNote Click Premium for free.

Benefits of EndNote Click Premium include all the benefits listed above, plus:

  • Store up to 2GB of PDF documents in your personal locker
  • Integrate your EndNote Click locker with your Dropbox account
