Introduction

This guide will introduce you to the library and information research on engineering topics. Feel free to contact me if you need assistance. I can meet you at the LBJ building, the library office, 1422, and via Zoom. You can make an appointment and see my availability. We have an Engineering librarian, Roman Koshykar, who has InfoGuides on engineering topics. Never pay for an article, book, or standards you need. You can get these materials for free.

We will cover the following:

1. How to search using Boolean operators, create a search statement, find keywords to expand the search, and select fields in the search bar (title, abstract, author, etc. )

2. Skimming articles by reading the abstract, conclusion, and figures.

3. Finding journal articles using Summon, our discovery tool, Compendex, and Google Scholar and filtering results.

4. Finding books, theses, and dissertations using Summon and the library catalog.

5. Finding Standards

6. Zotero - a citation manager to help you organize your references and notes

7. Research Rabbitt - AI literature research tool
