All that is needed is an RIT ID card (available from the Registrar's office).

Use your account to renew library books online!

Your account expires each year and can be renewed by presenting your RIT ID at the Circulation Desk.

Library Policies for Osher Students

All RIT Osher Institute students who have a current annual membership have the privilege of using Wallace Library’s circulating book collection, electronic resources, and interlibrary loan services at this time. Osher students who do not have an annual membership do not have any library privileges.

Note:  RRLC Access cards may be given out to Osher Institute students with a current annual membership if a good case is made for obtaining the card—they are not given out lightly.

Books (updated 10/26/23)

  • Can borrow up to 500 books at once.
  • Can borrow books for 6 weeks.
  • Can renew books up to 3 times.

Electronic resources

  • Can use computers located in the library with your RIT username/password.
  • Can NOT borrow laptops.

DVDs

If there is a video in our catalog that Osher you would like to use in the classroom they can be place on Reserve. Contact ereswml@rit.edu. You must be an Osher instructor to borrow reserve DVDs. You will need to come to the library to borrow and return any videos you wish to use in class.

Interlibrary Loan

RIT Osher Institute students who have a current annual membership can request items via interlibrary loan using the IDS Express site. Osher Institute students should log into IDS Express with their RIT usernames and passwords in order to register and make requests. Contact the RIT ITS Service desk for help with your RIT account (servicedesk@rit.edu, 585-475-4357, TTY 585-475-2810).
