Although the library has many databases that contain scholarly articles relevant to theater research, there are a few databases that provide access to the prominent journals and literature in the field such as:
This database provides access to relevant journals such as Modern Drama, but also Gale's collection of literary criticism including the Drama Criticism series. Look here for literary criticism, scholarly research, biographical information, production reviews, and more.
JSTOR provides access to 32 performing arts journals including articles from the 1950s to present. Be sure to use the "Advanced Search" option and set your access type to "All Content" to get the most out of your search - the yellow "More" button will connect you to any articles not in JSTOR.
ProQuest Complete includes access to relevant databases such as Arts & Humanities Full Text and MLA International Bibliography all in one place. Look here for articles on modern literature, literary theory and criticism, film, television and theater, and more!
This multidisciplinary database contains scholarly journals, magazines, newsletters, and newspapers including information relevant to theater arts. Looking for peer-reviewed sources? Be sure to check off the "Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals" option before you search.
The Arts & Humanities Citation Index (Web of Science) does not contain full-text articles, but provides titles and abstracts for articles in some of the most significant journals in the field. The full-text is often available in another one of RIT's databases - use this database to discover a source, then click the yellow "More" button in the database to connect to the full-text.
Use of RIT resources is reserved for current RIT students, faculty
and staff for academic and teaching purposes only.
