How to Use this Benefit:

  1. Upon your article's acceptance, authors will be asked to identify themselves by one of three data elements: selected institution, institutional email, or location.
  2. Author will receive confirmation that they can publish the article open access with the fees waived.
  3. Author will be asked to agree to a creative commons license on behalf of all co-authors. CC-BY is most commonly used, but other licenses are available on request.

Note as of 11/24/25: RIT has reached our cap for SpingerNature APC waivers for this year. If you wish to publish open access with SN, you may consider the following options:

  1. Pay the APC required for OA publishing.
  2. Publish your article non-OA and deposit your author's manuscript (or post-print) in RIT's open access institutional repository.
  3. Wait until after January 1, 2026 to submit your publication when our pool for waivers is refreshed.
