Open Access Publishing Partnerships

Information on Transformative Agreements (also known as "Read and Publish" agreements) RIT Libraries has entered into; as well as any other publishing discounts that my apply to RIT affiliates.

Transformative Agreements

A transformative agreement is a newer type of agreement with a scholarly publisher that moves beyond a traditional read-only agreement. Also called "Read and Publish Agreements", not only can the institution read all of the articles that they want from a publisher, we now get the ability to publish our content with an open access license without the Article Processing Charges (APCs).  These agreements recognize the scholarly output of institutions and our need to not only read content, but publish content.

We are excited to announce that RIT Libraries has entered into four transformative agreements with publishers in 2024.  We have partnered with ACM, Royal Society of Chemistry, Cambridge University Press and SpringerNature to provide Open Access Publishing.  In addition to the reduction in publishing costs, we’ve increased access to over 400 journals from Cambridge and over 700 journals from Springer Nature.  These titles span the research and curriculum needs of our students, faculty and staf

Currently, RIT Libraries has transformative agreements with the following:

These agreements apply to current graduate students and full time faculty from any RIT campus (including RIT Global campuses).

If someone has graduated from RIT but submitted the article for publication after they graduated, we won't be able to support the request.
