The Gallaudet Encyclopedia and The Sage Deaf Studies Encyclopedia provide background information about Deaf International people and events which can help you find topic ideas. You would need to know the deaf person's name to find an article about his/her life.
There are also auto/biographies of Deaf people from all over the world. Use the RIT Libraries Catalog to find more books on this topic. Use the keywords deaf AND India (name of country), or deaf AND biography AND (name of country) to find books about a deaf person's life. You can also search Summon (which is narrowed by region). If we do not have a book, you can check WorldCat, and then submit an interlibrary loan request.
If you already have a citation, use the Citation LInker to find the book.
Tip: Use the bibliography at the end of the book chapters or encyclopedia articles to find more works.
Check out these ebook databases for more titles related to your topic. You can use the keywords deaf AND biography AND country to retrieve results.
Many books are available in the library but sometimes you will identify books we have not bought. Use Information Delivery Service (IDS) to order books or book chapters. This is a free service.
IDS requests usually take 3-5 business days. When the item arrives you will receive an email. If it is an entire book it will be available for check-out at the Circulation Desk. If it is a book chapter it will usually be delivered as a PDF into your IDS account.
