You can request a checked-out book by logging in to My Library Account, searching for the book you want, and clicking the Request button in the catalog record. The Library will request the return of the book from the patron who has it - however, that patron will be allowed to keep it for at least three weeks. If the book is past due, an immediate return is requested. When the book has been returned, you will be notified by email that it is being held for you.
If you need to find an item offsite, this short video shows you how to request an offsite item (ie, building 99). It takes a day or two for the item to be delivered to the Library Services Desk, where you can pick it up.
If you are a current student, staff, or faculty member looking for books or journal articles that the RIT Libraries does not own, you can request them via Interlibrary Loan. More information about this service is available.
Through Interlibrary Loan, also known as IDS Express (Information Delivery Services), library users can borrow materials not currently in our collections (see below for details). ILL requests can be made online.
