Welcome!

This guide was created to support research conducted by students enrolled in the course, Science Writing, taught by Professor David Martins. This guide offers both scholarly and secondary research resources including academic journals, trade magazines, professional organizations, databases, recommended podcasts & blogs, and published works by authors from within the field of science writing.

Topics addressed in the genres of science writing include perspectives from all of the scientific disciplines, the environment, medicine, and technology.  Audiences range from the general public to scientists and engineers and so science writing requires writers to communicate highly complex technical information to multiple audiences. This course examines new opportunities for covering science (especially on the internet), important ethical and practical constraints that govern the reporting of scientific information, and the cultural place of science in our society.
