R&D (Research & Development) Ratios

Schonfeld calculates on R&D ratios for industries and companies. Read their methodology to understand how they calculate these figures. Use Back issues in print to build a time series. Note there are time gaps in collection.

Look for R&D ratios in your company's Annual Report or 10-K
Not all companies report this ratio but it might be there. The annual report will have will be the raw data to calculate the ratio yourself.

Ratio Resources for Company & Industry Ratios

IMPORTANT: Not every product has the same ratios and some sought ratios may not be available. Look at the company's 10-K to see if the company reports data for you to calculate ratios yourself.

Access to industry financial ratios and statistics on a national and regional level.
Hoovers (D&B Hoovers) This link opens in a new window
After going into a company record the left navigation column has Annual Ratios and Ratio Comparisons options under the Financial section when numbers are available from Hoovers.

Go into a company record. Choose Company Financials then in the sub-menu that appears choose Ratios.

Go to the Key Statistics in the left navigation.
NetAdvantage This link opens in a new window
Choose Markets->Industry->Industry Profile and then look under Key Stats & Ratios and then Financial Operating Metrics. Very broad industry coverage.
