Pre and Post Discovery

Pre-Discovery

Literature reviews area  common research activity. Discovery in this context means working with a librarian to make sure you are utilizing all the premium resources you have access to. Database training can help optimize your searching especially when search functionality changes across platforms.

Post-Discovery

This is the consideration of how your research is being discovered by others. How is your publisher indexing your articles and books? Where are they supplying citations, abstracts and full text? How is their content ingested into Discovery layers such as Summon, EDS (EBSCO Discovery Service), Primo Central and WorldCat Discovery.

At RIT we subscribe to Summon. This is the search box you see on the library's home page.

Test out Summon to see how it is indexing and discovering your research.
