Posted May 2024:
Connect NY will be discontinued on June 14, 2024.
Please use IDS Express (linked below) to borrow any materials the RIT Libraries does not have access to.
Resource Sharing Shifts to IDS Express
While Connect NY will no longer be available, be assured that you can use IDS Express as RIT’s resource-sharing request platform. The reliability you have come to expect from Connect NY will be maintained through IDS Express. IDS Express will continue to utilize the same courier service and collaborate with the same libraries to fulfill resource requests.
Regarding items currently checked out:
Any items that currently are checked out through Connect NY will not be disrupted or recalled. Those items may continue to be used, and an no fines will be accrued. However, please note that renewals on those Connect NY items will not be permitted after June 14th.
For those who require longer use of an item originally borrowed through Connect NY, a seamless transition process is in place. Those loans can be transferred easily to IDS Express and new copies will be obtained from participating lenders, ensuring uninterrupted access to those resources. Contact Information Delivery Services (IDS) at illwml@rit.edu - 585-475-7667 to initiate these transfers if needed.
Discovery of items outside of RIT and ConnectNY
If you used ConnectNY to discover items within or beyond the RIT Libraries, you can shift your searching to WorldCat (linked below). WorldCat allows you to search holdings in libraries regionally, nationally and globally. You can then request items via IDS Express. Keep in mind you can always place IDS Express orders without identifying which library holds an item.
If you know which librarian handles your subject of interest click on their name below to go to their contact page. It will have their email, appointment link, and you might even find they are on Chat at the same time you need help.
Not sure who to start with? Use the Chat/Email/Appointments button near the right top of page to contact our Reference Desk.
If the button above is red and says Contact Us that means the desk is closed but you can still email us! libraryhelp@rit.edu
Many tools online help people discover books on many topics. Each has pros and cons. No single tool covers all books in the world. Use IDS Express to request books from The RIT Libraries which we do not own. And of course your librarians are here to help!
