Thesis or dissertation embargo requests

RIT requires the publication of graduate theses and dissertations in the interests of open dissemination of research results and scholarship.

Occasionally, a graduate student may have a need to request a thesis or dissertation embargo for up to 12 months.  Any student with a need to apply for a thesis or dissertation embargo must make the request through the RIT Graduate School, and the request must be approved by both the Dean of the Graduate School and the primary thesis/dissertation advisor before the embargo is applied.

If an embargo is needed, fill out the embargo request form and submit it to the RIT Graduate School BEFORE submitting your documents to ProQuest.  Please read all requirements on the embargo form carefully.  The abstract and keywords will still be published in ProQuest while the embargo is in place, so do not include protected information in your abstract.

If you have questions, contact  the RIT Graduate School (email: gradthesis@rit.edu) for more information
