Your project involves developing a case assignment based on a real-world example within a systemically marginalized community (e.g., Deaf, Black Deaf, Deaf Blind...). More details can be found in your final project assignment sheet. You need at least four sources in addition to the textbook. At least two must be scholarly, and two must be from popular culture. You must cite academic/scholarly work and popular culture (magazines, social media, etc.) in APA format. Here is a chart to review the differences between scholarlly and popular works. This guide explains how to cite social media. You can format your citations using BibGuru, a free citation source.
You need to identify a major ethical issue faced by a leader and organization/community (i.e., non-profit, education, government, community, health care, entrepreneurship, business, marketing, etc.). You also need to describe, analyze, and apply a descriptive explanation of how the organization and individuals behave and a prescriptive explanation - what the organization (and individuals) should do or should have done, based on a Code of Ethics or ethical guidelines.
Finding sources:
For scholarly work, use Google Scholar. Make sure your library settings point to RIT Libraries. You can also use Summon, our library discovery tool, to find books (also e-Books), articles, and videos. Some materials, like DVDs or books, may be off-site in building 99. You can request (watch short video) the materials by clicking on the request tab above the title in the catalog record.
If you need a book or article the library doesn't have, you can request it for free through Interlibrary Loan.
The Department of Deaf Education InfoGuide lists Deaf and Disability journals you can search directly.
If you are looking for medical ethics or bioethics issues, try PubMed. If looking for legal & policy matters, try
HeinOnline and Westlaw. When using Proquest, use the advanced search screen. The databases are linked below.
