WHAT IS PICO?

  1. PICO is a process.
  2. PICO is not a software like Endnote and Microsoft Word.
  3. PICO is not a database like Pubmed or Cochrane or Uptodate, etc.
  4. PICO helps you frame your research question which means think out loud what you really are looking for in journal articles.
  5. Framing your thoughts also means selecting appropriate keywords and before searching in the Pubmed database and or the Cochrane database.
  6. Think of PICO as a research method and a research habit that clinical researchers use during their  literature research process.
