Finding DVDs and YouTube Videos

You can use the keywords DeafBlind OR Deaf-Blind to retrieve best results. Narrow the RIT Libraries catalog search to videos.

YouTube has online videos you can look at. Use the keywords Deaf-Blind.

Finding Books

Use the keywords DeafBlind to retrieve book results. Note that some DeafBlind use tactile sign language. If interested in other disabilities, you can use the keywords deaf* AND learning disabilit*, deaf* AND mobility, or deaf* AND secondary disabilit*. The Gallaudet Encyclopedia and the  Sage Deaf Studies Encyclopedia has articles on Deaf-Blind issues. Use Deaf biographies like Great Deaf Americans, Deaf Persons in the Arts and Sciences, and Movers and Shakers: Deaf People Who Changed the World to find more articles about DeafBlind people.

Finding Deaf-Blind People

Use the Gallaudet Biography Database to find Deaf-Blind (use the hyphen) people.It is helpful to have the person's name.  If interested in articles about DeafBlind in popular periodicals, check out the Deaf Life magazine. It is helpful to have the name of the person you are looking for. You can also search the Gallaudet Deaf Periodicals Database and scroll down to DeafBlind to find articles in a variety of magazines.  Check the A-Z Journal Finder list to see if we have the title.

If we do not have the magazine, you can use Interlibrary Loan for free. You must register and then you can order articles and books.

This record is from the Deaf Biography Database. Note the References. These are articles, book chapters, and other items where you can find more information about the person. You can look up the title of books using our RIT Libraries Catalog,.
