C'EST AUTRE CHOSE: April 23-25, 1981

"C'est Autre Chose" was an experimental visual/musical revue that explored the translation of the auditory experience of music for a hearing individual into a comparable visual experience for the Deaf. This revue did not approach the concept from a scientific perspective but rather from an artistic one.

Each section of the show represented a different aspect or quality of music. Some were concrete, such as FOGUE, TACTILE, INTERPRETATIONS, and SONG; others were more abstract, such as THEME, BALLAD, EMOTIONS,and SILENCE. All were designed to be visually engaging and, ideally, to evoke emotions in the same way that music did.

"C'est Autre Chose" was an entirely student-run production featuring both hearing and Deaf individuals. This production was made possible by the dedicated support of educators who believed in our vision and entrusted us with a project of this scale.

The co-directors and co-writers, Matthew S. Moore and Tom Connor, extended their deepest gratitude to the Experimental Educational Theatre Department, especially Dr. Bruce Halverson, for fostering an environment of creative freedom and inspiration; and to Elaine Spaull and Kathleen Routly of the Complementary Educational Grant Program at RIT for their financial and moral support.
