The image below is from Inouïes. There is a new French book entitled Inouïes: Portraits de Femmes Sourds. She is the first Deaf woman to win the Gisèle Halimi prize. She delivered a sign language speech on domestic violence. She founded an organization, Femmes sourdes citoyennes et solidaires. Catherine was involved with a film, Like Dolls I'll Rise.Two hundred one-of-a-kind Black dolls, a work of powerful original poetry, and never before seen archival materials combine to tell a remarkable story of love, survival, and identity. 
Catherine Zlatkovic won the jury's favorite prize for the Gisèle Halimi Prize with a powerful speech on the violence suffered by deaf women.To highlight the talent of women and denounce sexism through words, the Women's Foundation organized on 09/07/2019, in the legendary room of the Maison de la Radio - Studio 104 - and for the third consecutive year, an eloquence contest. Unheard of, portraits of deaf women (Inouïes: Portraits de Femmes Sourds)
“We don't see them, we don't hear them, yet they are there, among us. What is it to be a woman? What is it to be a Deaf woman? This book invites you to discover the portraits of 38 incredible Deaf women . They tell you their story, their difficulties and the way to the fulfillment of their dreams, despite the obstacles of a society that tends to make them invisible. Of various ages, origins or fields, they each deliver a message to you, initially told in their natural language, French Sign Language (LSF). To these portraits, sublimated by the photographs of Jennifer Lescoüet, like stops in time, are added five film extracts from a play: Sedruos , according to Hear me by Cécile Ladjali, in a production by Gwenola Lefeuvre. Unheard of, portraits of Deaf women , mixes known and anonymous women, in order to present a panorama of the Deaf woman of today. »Here is a bilingual book that can be read both in French in the text of the book and in French Sign Language (LSF) via the Inclood application.
