The play The Grapes of Wrath, adapted for the stage by Frank Galati, tells the story of the Joad family and their journey from the Dust Bowl of Oklahoma to California in search of a better life. After losing their family farm, the Joads—led by the indomitable Ma Joad—pile their few possessions onto a battered old truck and head west.
The prop truck, hand-built entirely from scratch using found parts, was designed and constructed by James R. Price. It was later donated to the San Francisco Opera.
The Grapes of Wrath was reviewed by the American College Theatre Festival.
