Gail Argetsinger, an award-winning costume designer and professor at SUNY Brockport, designed the horse heads and platform hooves worn by six actors portraying horses in Peter Shaffer’s Equus. She crafted the heads and collaborated on the construction of the hooves. The six horse actors also provided most of the voicing—a considerable challenge in addition to their other performance demands.
Joseph Hamilton, Stagecraft Manager, built the 9-foot-high platform hooves for the voicers.
Equus was directed by Jerry Argetsinger, with horse choreography by Jeff Peden.
A special guest, Kevin Nolan ’71, performed with the cast. Mr. Nolan, a graduate of the College of Business at RIT/NTID, was one of only 70 students in the inaugural NTID class that began in 1968 with the opening of the NTID campus at RIT. He was thrilled to return for NTID’s 40th anniversary and equally delighted to see that NTID theatre was still thriving—stronger than ever.
