The American Deaf Play Creators Festival: September 12- 21, 1996

The American Deaf Play Creators Festival, supported by the Nathan Cummings Foundation, brings top Deaf artists to Rochester. Featuring Phyllis Frelich, Tony Award-winning actress, and Howie Seago, Helen Hayes Award-winning actor, along with an ensemble including Elena Blue, Patrick Graybill, Nat Wilson, Dennis Smith, and Melissa Westlake, the festival showcases innovative dramatic work.

Producer Mary Vreeland and NTID Performing Arts Artistic Director Kelly Morgan have designed the event to explore new creative processes for Deaf artists.

The American Deaf Play Creators Festival presents Two New Plays:

Whispers of a Savage Sort: A powerful drama about the destructive forces of rumors; gossip and lies on a community of friends and neighbors; Wriiten by Raymond Luczak; Directed by Howie Seago. September 11; 13; 15; 19; 21, 1996.

Cat Spanking Machine: A dark comedy that covers the seamier side of land development, greed, lust, politics, and tall tales; Written by Shanny Mow; Directed by Phyllis Frelich. September 12; 14; 18; 20; 21, 1996.

Cost of tickets for students and senior citizens: $5.00; All others: $7.00
