This is a play about the nature of truth, human virtue, and human weakness. It's based on Japanese folk tales by Ryunosuke Akutagawa and explores themes of betrayal, death, love, memory, and more. The play is about a samurai who is murdered and his wife who is assaulted by a bandit. The bandit is captured and brought to trial, but the truth is elusive because the witnesses give contradictory versions of what happened. The play features the bandit, the wife, and the dead husband speaking through a sorceress.
