The Experimental Educational Theatre welcomed Bernard Bragg, an internationally acclaimed Deaf actor from the National Theatre of the Deaf (NTD), to play the role of Jourdain. Bragg spent six weeks at NTID as an artist-in-residence, during which he worked on the play and taught advanced acting students. Additionally, he appeared at the 1978 Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) National Convention that summer.
Mr. Bragg studied mime under Marcel Marceau in Paris and toured the United States with a one-man show. He made numerous television appearances and had his own weekly show in the early 1960s titled The Quiet Man. He was also instrumental in the founding of NTD and, according to Robert Panara, “has been one of its brightest stars for more than ten years.”
